HEART HEALTHY BOOT CAMP

This class is a senior boot camp.  It is a type of group exercise class that mixes LOW IMPACT to NO IMPACT, for some, and light calisthenics for those who can.  Body weight exercises with interval training and strength training are also part of the program.  Start where you are to get to where you want to be with the help of the trained coaches at Core Boot Camps.  Exercises are performed inside the studio, however when there is very nice weather, some exercises may be outdoors.

HATHA YOGA

In this class, postures are practiced to align, strengthen and promote flexibility in the body.  Breathing techniques and meditation are also integrated.  You can expect an emphasis on simplicity, repetition, and ease of movement.  Full-body relaxation and balance are the goals as we make a full circuit of the body's range of motion with standing postures, twists, back bends, forward folds, and hip openers.  Good for all fitness levels.

STRONG by ZUMBA

This class is a high-intensity workout lead by music for added fun!  It is a high energy workout for intermediate and advanced fitness levels.  You will burn 600 to 800 calories per class!

KICK BOXING

This physical and mental discipline is known as "the art of eight limbs" because it is characterized by the combined use of fists, elbows, knees, shins, being associated with a good physical preparation that makes it full-contact.

You will use focus shields and kick pads along with boxing bags!

You'll burn major calories—fast.

The main physical benefit beginner boxers will see is cardiovascular. Boxing improves your resting heart rate and muscular endurance. That lowered resting heart rate and increased stamina can give you in edge in your other workouts. With a potential burn rate of 13 calories a minute, boxing goes head-to-head with other types of cardio like running and cycling.

Plan to punch away anywhere from 200 to 400 calories

(for a 140-pound individual) per half hour.

CORE ALSO HAS CUSTOM PROGRAMS

Custom programs can be tailored to your individual needs.  I'll begin with a comprehensive consultation. This includes a medical and fitness history, along with lifestyle and body composition analysis. Next, I work with you to formulate an on-going personal exercise prescription. You set your own goals; whether it is firming and toning, weight loss, or specific sport training. I oversee every detail of your personal training program, including nutritional guidance. I provide on-line meal planning based on standards defined by the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies of Science. Fine tuning is done by carefully charting and monitoring your progress.  Together, we will get you to your goal.

KID FIT TIPS

Successful behaviors for pre-teen and teenage weight loss include:

 • Eating more fruits and vegetables

 • Eating more whole grains

 • Eating more low fat dairy and lean meats

 • Eating less fat

 • Drinking less soda

 • Exercising regularly

 • Seeing results!

TIPS FOR PARENTS

For their part, parents can stock the house with healthy foods, including some treats. They can also enjoy nutritious foods and engage in regular physical activity together with their teens. But while serving as good role models, parents should still allow teens to make their own choices. To succeed, teens need to take responsibility for what they eat and how often they exercise. Parents may need some additional guidance to help overweight teens get to the stage where they are ready to lose weight. Health care professionals can provide suggestions teens will listen to as well as support for both parents and teens.
